Conference Centers

Due to the press of ministry, Jesus often found a quiet place to renew his own strength and prepare for what was ahead. Scripture says that he "turned aside" or "went up in to a mountain apart to pray... (Mt. 14:23)." It is good when God's children take time to find that quiet retreat where God seems to be near and fellowship with him is the priority. Every believer needs experience like this away from crowded schedules and daily routines to focus on the Lord Jesus. The conference center ministries of Georgia Baptist seeks to fulfill this need.

The Georgia Baptist Conference Center - Toccoa and the Georgia Baptist Conference Center - Norman Park provide places for retreat, fellowship, and study. The facilities at Toccoa include 240 guest rooms, a family camping area, and Camp Tugalo - a rustic group-camp area. The ministry of our conference centers is open, not just to the agencies of our denomination or the State Missions Program, but to the associations and local churches. Any group whose purposes are not inconsistent with our own is welcome to enjoy these facilities.

Georgia Baptists, giving through the Cooperative Program and State Missions Offering, have provided for the establishment of the facilities. The management of the conference centers is the responsibility of the executive director with policies and rates being set by the Administration Committee. Daily direction and supervision is provided through the directors elected by the Administration Committee. Bill Wheeler is the director at the Georgia Baptist Conference Center - Toccoa and Brian Blackburn is the director at  the Georgia Baptist Conference Center - Norman Park. Reservations and other information may be secured by contacting the conference centers.
